Composition: Each capsule contains: Fluoxetine (HCL) 10 or 20mg.

Properties: Pharmacological Properties: Fluoxetine hydrochloride (Philozac®) has anti-depressant and anti-obsessive compulsive properties through inhibition of central nervous system neuronal uptake of serotonin. Being a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), it has less sedative effect than tricyclic anti-depressants.
Pharmacokinetics: Fluoxetine hydrochloride, Philozac®, is well absorbed (95%) from the gastro-intestinal tract. Its bioavailability is not affected by food. It is extensively metabolized in the liver to norfluoxetine, which is an active metabolite, and a number of other unidentified metabolites.

Indications: -Â Â Â Depression and associated anxiety. -Â Â Â Obsessive compulsive disorders with or without concomitant depression. -Â Â Â Bulimia nervosa and associated binge-eating and purging activity with or without concomitant depression.

Contra-Indictions: -Â Â Â Hypersensitivity to the component -Â Â Â In combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or within 14 days of discontinuing them
Pregnancy and Lactation: It is given with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

Adverse Effects:Fluoxetine hydrochloride, Philozac®, may cause drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, nausea, diarrhea and changes in appetite.

|
Dosage & Administration: The daily dose ranges from 5mg-80mg/day with a usual dose of 20mg in the morning. The dose above 20mg/day may be administered once a day or divided to be twice daily or as directed by the physician.

How supplied: Strips of 10 Capsules - 10 or 20mg in packs of 1 strip.
