Ibiamox

Composition: Broad Spectrum Antibiotic

Capsules: Each capsule contains Amoxycillin Trihydrate equivalent to 250mg or 500mg Amoxycillin.
Powder for oral suspension: Each 5ml after reconstitution contains Amoxycillin Trihydrate equivalent to 200 or 400mg Amoxycillin.

Properties: -    Amoxycillin (Ibiamox^®) is a semi-synthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum antibacterial action.
-    Amoxycillin (Ibiamox^®) is well absorbed orally and gives very high serum and tissue levels irrespective of the presence of food in the stomach.
-    Amoxycillin (Ibiamox^®) is highly concentrated in the middle ear fluid, tonsils, sinus and soft tissues.
-    It also has a very low incidence of side effects.
Antimicrobial Activity:
Amoxycillin (Ibiamox^®) exhibits a broad spectrum bactericidal action against several Gram+ve and Gram -ve bacteria.

Clostridium Species    H. Pylori
Bacillus Anthracis    Proteus Mirabilis

Indications: -    E.N.T. infections e.g. otitis media, sinusitis and tonsillitis.
-    Lower respiratory tract infections e.g. bronchitis.  
-    Typhoid fever.
-    Urogenital infections e.g. gonorrhea and cystitis
-    Eradication of H. pylori in recurrent peptic ulcer
-    Prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis

Contra-Indictions:

Adverse Effects:

Dosage & Administration: Adults:
Mild and Moderate Infections:
500mg every 8 hours or 1000mg every 12 hours

Severe Infections:
1000mg every 8 hours

Eradication of H. Pylori:
500mg every 8 hours or 1000mg every 12 hours for 2 weeks.

Children:
60mg-90mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses (every 12 or 8 hours). For children weighing more than 40kg, the dose should be adjusted according to the adult dose.

Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to Penicillin.

How supplied: Capsules: Strips of 12 capsules in a pack of 1 strip.
Powder for oral suspension: Bottle of 80ml (after reconstitution).

N.B.:
Suspension: should be used within 7 days after reconstitution.
