Amoun Pharmaceutical Industries Co. started in 1991 , and was acquired by GlaxoWellcome Egypt at the end of 1998. At the time, APIC was ranked number 4 among more than 600 companies represented in the Egyptian pharmaceutical market.

Amoun established its third state-of-the-art factory (Amoun Pharmaceutical Co.) - designed by John Brown Co. in Chicago following all FDA requirements - and today is considered to be one of the largest and most up-to-date pharmaceutical factories in the Middle East and Africa.

The Extraordinary General Assembly of the company approved in principle, in its meeting on February 26, 2008, the merge of Mercury (Egypt) Manufacturing Pharmaceutical Company (The Merged Entity) with Amoun Pharmaceutical Company (The Surviving Entity) as of January 1, 2008 based on the adjusted book value (market value) as of December 31, 2007 . It is noteworthy that the Board of Directors of the company approved the merge in its meeting on November 28, 2007.

Amoun is considered to be one of the biggest factories in the field of producing human and veterinary pharmaceutical products and food supplements.

The human pharmaceutical products cover most of the pharmaceutical groups including 166 items which cover more than 265 products of different pharmaceutical forms and concentrations. Amoun Pharmaceutical forms include capsules, tablets, dry syrups, powders, effervescents, syrups, solutions, drops, creams, suppositories, sprays, beside sterile products such as ampoules, vials, sterile eye drops and eye ointments. Amount's veterinary products include 22 names covering 30 products of different forms and concentrations.

Due to its high reputation as a leading manufacturer in Egypt, Amoun produces some products under licence from International Pharmaceutical companies, e.g. Merck (Germany), Rowa Wagner (Germany), Leurquin (France), as well as Guerbet (France) for diagnostic injectables .

Amoun is always committed to "Quality and Trust". Our strategic plan aims to achieve the production of 122.4 million packages of different pharmaceutical forms amounting to approximately L.E 1200 miillion by 2010, and around 220 million packages amounting to (+/-) L.E. 2 billion by 2015.
